A Bite of Breakfast Crumpet For Le Duc

Insanity is often the logic of an accurate mind overtasked. Good mental machinery ought to break its own wheels and levers, if anything is thrust among them suddenly which tends to stop them or reverse their motion. A weak mind does not accumulate force enough to hurt itself; stupidity often saves a man from going mad.
- Oliver Wendell Holmes, Sr. 'The Autocrat of the Breakfast Table'

This is a bit of self-criticism on my part; yes, I've learned how to enjoy my Maoist struggle sessions here in Shanghai.

It is interesting that you speak of Holmes essay. It plays a large role in The Dante Club by Matthew Perl, which I am reading as I sit on the shores of Deep Creek Lake. I recommend it highly.
I am also re-reading Pedogogy of the Oppressed by Paulo Friere and intend to begin the long awaited "offensive" upon your return Paddy. You too Duc shall feel the sting of my rested and sharpened wit!

Alas, i think I've only managed to get through several books on China so far this summer. I'm certainly ready for a change-up.
